August Recall Update

At McCoy, Hiestand & Smith we value the health and safety of everyone in our community. Sometimes regardless of how careful we are the products we buy aren’t as safe as we had hoped.

Products are recalled every day and it’s important to stay up to date on those recalls in order to keep you and your loved ones safe. Below are a few recent recalls that may affect you.

SunSetter’s Motorized Vinyl Awnings Recalled, One Death Reported 

A recall has been issued on vinyl covers for SunSetter Motorized Awnings due to fall and impact hazards. “If a powered awning is activated while the cover is secured with bungee tie-downs, when the cover is removed, the awning can open unexpectedly with enough force to strike a consumer standing in the awning’s path, causing them to fall and suffer death or serious injury,” states the recall. One death has been reported in connection to the recall. An additional 13 incidents have been reported, including six injuries.

Forest River Recalls Flagstaff & Cherokee Arctic Wolf Recreational Trailers August ’19 Recall Update

1,809 model year 2019 and 2020 recreational trailers have been recalled. The pin boxes in the MORyde Orbital or the You Turn Rubber Box Wedge Kits were equipped with incorrect bolts. The shorter bolts may allow the rotating pin box to rotate in two places, increasing the risk of crash. Forest River will notify owners and dealers will replace the bolts free of charge.

August ’19 Recall UpdatePfizer Recalls RELPAX Tablets

Two lots of REPLAX tablets have been recalled because they may not meet in-house microbiological specs for the potential presence of Genus Pseudomonas and Burkholderia. Consuming these products contaminated with microorganisms are at the risk of life-threatening infections. While there haven’t been any complaints reported, consumers should immediately stop use and return the tablets to their pharmacy.

Bimbo Bakeries Recalls Entenmann’s Little Bites Cookies August ’19 Recall Update

The product may contain visible, blue plastic pieces in the individual pouch.

August ’19 Recall UpdateSuper Jumper Recalls Trampolines

The welds on the metal railings can fail posing fall and injury hazards. 97 reports have been filed, with four resulting in minor injuries. The 24,000 recalled trampolines were sold at Amazon.com, Hayneedle.com, Overstock.com and Wayfair.com from November 2011 through June 2019. Consumers should immediately stop use and contact Super Jumper for a free repair kit.

Cookie Dough Café Recalls Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bar August ’19 Recall Update

15 cases of Chocolate Chip Chilled Gourmet Edible Cookie Dough Bars have been recalled as they may contain peanuts, an allergen not listed on the label. The product is in a white and turquoise package with an expiration date of 1/22/20 and UPC 850967006531. It should be returned to the retailer for a full refund.

Kobah Ice Axes Recalled Due to Serious Fall and Injury Hazards

Seattle Manufacturing Corporation has issued a recall on Kobah ice axes due to serious fall and injury hazards. “The spike and/or head of the ice axe can detach from the handle during use, posing serious injury and fall hazards to the climber,” says the company. They have received one report of an incident in which an axe’s spike detached from the handle, but no injuries were reported.
