Former Juul Executive Says Company Knowingly Sold Contaminated Vaping Pods

The former SVP of Finance at Juul has filed a lawsuit alleging the company knowingly sold contaminated liquid pods for its vaping products. According to the lawsuit, the company acted with total disregard for the “law, public safety, and public health” when it sold 1 million of the mint-flavored, contaminated pods, as well as pods that were expired or nearly expired. Additionally, the plaintiff claims he was fired in retaliation for reporting the allegations.

Minnesota Files Suit Against Juul Over Youth Vaping

The state of Minnesota has filed a lawsuit against Juul Labs alleging the e-cigarette company is responsible for a rise in youth vaping. According to the lawsuit, the company violated state consumer protection laws by targeting teens with the marketing of its e-cigarette devices. The lawsuit, announced by Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, was filed in Hennepin County District Court.

Over 1,000 Patients at Indiana Hospital Potentially Exposed to HIV, Hepatitis

Over 1,000 patients at an Indiana hospital may have been exposed to HIV or hepatitis, according to a lawsuit. The lawsuit filed on Friday against Goshen Health alleges the hospital may have exposed patients to blood-borne viruses such as HIV and hepatitis by failing to properly sterilize surgical equipment. The hospital announced that one of seven sterilization technicians working at the hospital failed to complete one step in a multi-step cleaning process of surgical equipment.

Sandy Hook Families Can Proceed with Suit Against Remington, Says Supreme Court

The U.S. Supreme Court will allow the families of Sandy Hook shooting victims to file suit against Remington, the maker of the rifle used in the deadly shooting. The high court denied Remington’s request to block the lawsuit filed by the families. The lawsuit alleges the company should be held liable as the manufacturer and promoter of the AR-15-style rifle. Justices announced on Tuesday morning that they would not hear Remington’s appeal.

Los Angeles School District Files Suit Against JUUL Labs

The Los Angeles Unified School District has announced a lawsuit against electronic-cigarette manufacturer JUUL Labs, accusing the company of contributing to a vaping epidemic. The lawsuit also alleges the epidemic among students that has drained district resources and threatened the health of students. The lawsuit was filed in San Bernardino County Superior Court.
