As the saying goes, a picture’s worth a thousand words. Not only can pictures help to tell a story of a car accident but they can do it without bias. There are few things more powerful for strengthening your case. Witnesses and first-hand accounts may confuse details. Pictures don’t. That’s why when you’re in a wreck, it’s important to use your smartphone or camera to take as many photos of the crash scene as you can. These photos can serve as valuable evidence to help you get fair compensation.
Things to Photograph
- Photograph the exterior damage to all the vehicles involved in the crash. Take photos of all four corners of every vehicle so the viewer can get a full view of the damage. Don’t forget to snap the license plates too.
- Step back from the scene and take shots of the location. Do this from as many angles as you can. Make sure to include landmarks like street lines or lights so that viewers can better orient themselves to the scene.
- If possible, you should also get photographs of the interior damage to all cars involved. Some people may object, but do your best to capture every detail as best you can. Of course, don’t overstep boundaries.
- Photograph damage to property, debris, skid marks and vehicle parts that are related to the car accident. Again, this can go a long way in fully explaining the scene and what happened.
