February ’19 Recall Update

At McCoy, Hiestand & Smith we value the health and safety of everyone in our community. Sometimes regardless of how careful we are the products we buy aren’t as safe as we had hoped.

Products are recalled every day and it’s important to stay up to date on those recalls in order to keep you and your loved ones safe. Below are a few recent recalls that may affect you.

Lifeworks Recalls Armor All Heated Cushions, Blankets

Lifeworks has issued a recall on 2V heated seat cushions, USB powered heated seat cushions and 12V heated blankets due to fire or burn risks. The products, sold under the Armor All brand name, are operated by plugging the cushion or blanket into a vehicle’s 12V cigarette lighter socket. Lifeworks is voluntarily recalling the products and offering consumers a full refund of the price of the product(s) purchased.

Academy Sports + Outdoors Recall Turkey Fryer

This recall involved the Academy Sports + Outdoors Gourmet Turkey Keg which is a turkey fryer made of stainless steel and powered by propane. Item number 157826 has been recalled because the fryer spout can leak oil, posing a fire hazard. Consumers should immediately stop use and return it to any Academy Sports + Outdoors store for a full refund and gift card.

Fisher-Price Recalls Children’s Power Wheels Barbie Campers

The ride-on Power Wheels can continue to run after the foot pedal is released, posing an injury hazard. This recall is for Barbie Dream Campers with model number FRC29 with a grey foot pedal. The recalled power wheels are hot pink with blue accents and the Barbie logo on the back. Consumers should immediately stop use and contact Fisher-Price for a free repair.

DeWalt Recalls Drills Due to Shock Hazard

This involves the Dewalt DWD110 and DWD112 3/8inch variable speed reversing drills. The drill’s wiring can contact with internal moving parts, posing a shock hazard.

CVB Recalls Mattresses for Violation of Flammability Standards

CVB has issued a recall on LUCID Folding Mattress-Sofas due to a violation of the federal flammability standard for mattresses. “The mattresses fail to meet the mandatory federal flammability standard for mattresses, posing a fire hazard,” states the recall. About 86,000 of the mattresses, sold through Amazon.com, Overstock.com, Wayfair.com and Walmart.com from September 2015 through June 2018, are included in the recall. No injuries or incidents have been reported.

Dell Recalls Power Adaptors over Shock Hazard

Dell has recalled Hybrid Power Adapters sold with Power Banks due to a shock hazard. “The hybrid power adapter casing can break and detach, exposing the internal metal components, posing an electric shock hazard,” states the recall. The company has received 11 reports of the hybrid power adapter breaking and exposing the internal components, but no injuries have been reported. About 8,900 power adapters are included in the recall.
