I had a simple broken leg. Only, I didn't… I would find out a week after my accident, once the shock had worn off and I went to my primary care physician for issues I was dealing with (as Sheila recommended) that I actually had many injuries to my neck and shoulder that went undetected due to the traumatic event of getting hit by a car as I crossed a crosswalk. The driver had insurance in Indiana (They first tried to deny his policy had been active ), I was in Kentucky when hit, and I live in Minnesota. I would find out a week after my accident It was a very complex case… With Sheila on my side, I felt 100% supported through the entire journey of getting the care I needed, settling with multiple insurance companies, and healing on this journey. A lawyer tried to talk me into going with my own state, but even across this complex network, Sheila remained knowledgeable, effective, caring, thoughtful, responsive, and tenacious when needed to ensure I received ongoing care. I was so grateful not to have to do this alone and to have somebody in my corner who genuinely cares. Her advice helped me get myself to the doctor to discover the multiple injuries as well as navigate resistant insurance companies. Ms. Hiestand was amazing to work with. I was nervous about finding someone who would work well with my father, who is hard of hearing and can be stubborn at times.
