Products are recalled every day and it’s important to stay up to date on those recalls in order to keep you and your loved ones safe. Below are a few recent recalls that may affect you.

Play and Park Structure RecallPlay and Park Structures Recalls Slides for Entrapment Hazard

Play and Park Structures has issued a recall on Playground SuperMax Triple Slides due to an entrapment hazard. The official recall states that “a gap between the rails near the entrance way to the slide poses an entrapment hazard to young children.” There has been one report of a gap between the rails that poses an entrapment hazard, but no injuries were reported. The slides were sold through independent distributors to parks, schools and municipalities from May 2014 through February 2018.

 

Michaels Recalls Spin Art Kits For Fire and Burn Hazards Michael's Spin Art Kit

Michaels has issued a recall on its Creatology Spin Art Kits due to fire and burn hazards. As stated in the recall, “The battery compartment in the spin art kit can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.” The kits were sold exclusively at Michaels stores nationwide and online at www.michaels.com from August 2011 through February 2018. There have been two reports of battery compartments overheating in the spin art kits, but no injuries have been reported.

Chainsaws Sold At Harbor Freight Recalled For Serious Injury Hazard

A recall has been issued on Portland, One Stop Gardens, and Chicago Electric 14 inch electric chainsaws due to a serious injury hazard. “The power switch can malfunction and allow the chainsaw to continue operating after the operator moves the switch to the “off” position, posing a serious injury hazard to the operator,” states the recall. About 1,020,000 of the chainsaws have been included in the recall and were sold at Harbor Freight Tools stores nationwide and online. There have been 15 reports of chainsaws continuing to operate after being turned off by the operator, resulting in two minor injuries and one serious injury to the arm requiring stitches.

35,000 Pounds of Beef Recalled For Plastic Contamination

Over 35,000 pounds of raw ground beef produced by JBS USA have been included in a recall due to the discovery of plastic in the meat. The recall was initiated after blue, hard plastic pieces were found in the beef, most of which was distributed to Kroger grocery stores. “We are aware of the JBS recall and have verified that none of these products are in our stores today,” stated a representative of Kroger. The recalled beef was shipped to distribution centers in Virginia and Indiana to be sold at various retail locations.

Carter’s Recalls Children’s Cardigans for Choking HazardCarters Children's Cardigan

Carter’s has issued a recall on its 3-piece penguin cardigan sets due to a choking hazard. “The cardigan’s toggle button can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children,” states the recall. About 107,200 of the cardigans have been included in the recall. There have been three reports of children putting a detached toggle button in their mouths, but no injuries have been reported.

Sharper Image Mandoline Sharper Image and Frigidaire Mandoline Slicers Recalled for Laceration Hazard

A recall has been issued on the Sharper Image and Frigidaire Mandoline slicers due to a laceration hazard. “The small blades in the julienne slicer attachment can separate from the plastic assembly, posing a laceration hazard,” says the recall. About 19,000 of the slicers were distributed across the United States. There have been four reports of the small blades separating from the julienne attachment during food preparation, but no injuries have been reported.
