Fisher Price Faces Class Action Over Recalled Rock ‘N Play Tied to Infant Deaths
Fisher-Price is facing class action lawsuit over its recalled Rock ‘N Play sleeper. The product has been connected to more than 30 infant deaths and well over 100 injuries, according to the lawsuit. The complaint was filed by a family whose baby died just minutes after being placed in the Rock ‘N Play. The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court is the first of two class action complaints filed against Fisher Price and its parent company.
Popular Heart Drugs Tainted with Carcinogens Subject of Dozens of Lawsuits
Widely prescribed generic heart medications tainted with potential carcinogens are the subject of dozens of lawsuits filed in the U.S. The drugs are at the center of a widening recall by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and have been taken by millions of people across the country. “We will have approximately 2,000 personal-injury cases on file in the next two years,” stated one attorney at a conference in the U.S. District Court in New Jersey last month.
$500,000 to Plaintiff in Louisville Trampoline Park Injury Suit
The plaintiff in a lawsuit against the House of Boom trampoline park in Louisville has been awarded nearly $500,000. The man fractured his back when he struck a punching bag while on a trampoline and fell. According to the plaintiff, equipment at the park was not in line with industry safety standards when he was injured in 2016.
Judge Blocks Parent’s Move to Forgo Vaccination Order
A Brooklyn judge upheld New York City’s mandatory measles vaccination order. As of April 8, there have been 285 measles diagnoses in the affected areas, compared to 85 nationwide during the entire calendar year of 2016. If adults in the affected area fail to receive the vaccine or get their children the vaccine, they face a $1,000 fine, and a $2,000 fine if they fail to appear at the hearing or respond to summons.
Boeing Facing Shareholder Lawsuit Over 737-Max Crashes
Boeing shareholders have taken legal action against the company after two crashes involving 737-Max airplanes. The lawsuit was filed in a Chicago federal court and accuses Boeing of putting “profitability and growth ahead of airplane safety and honesty.” The airplanes were grounded worldwide after two plane crashes resulted in the deaths of 350 people. The lawsuit, which seeks class action status, alleges Boeing concealed the risks of the 737-Max design, including “the danger of the increased pitchup tendency of the aircraft.”
BP Faces Lawsuits Over 2010 Gulf of Mexico Spill, Workers Cite Health Issues
About 140 people have filed lawsuits against BP over health issues allegedly caused by cleanup efforts after a rig explosion in 2010. The plaintiffs, who worked to clean up the spill following the 2010 explosion, say they were exposed to dangerous chemicals, which caused them serious health issues. Plaintiffs say they have suffered respiratory illnesses, thyroid cancer, chronic skin conditions, eye damage and other ailments.
