May ’19 Recall Update

At McCoy, Hiestand & Smith we value the health and safety of everyone in our community. Sometimes regardless of how careful we are the products we buy aren’t as safe as we had hoped.

Products are recalled every day and it’s important to stay up to date on those recalls in order to keep you and your loved ones safe. Below are a few recent recalls that may affect you.

Igloo Recalls Marine Coolers Due to Entrapment and Suffocation Hazards May ’19 Recall Update

Igloo Marine Elite Coolers have been recalled due to entrapment and suffocation hazards. As stated in the recall, “The cooler’s stainless-steel latch can automatically lock when the lid is closed, allowing a person to become locked inside the air tight container, posing entrapment and suffocation hazards.” About 60,000 coolers are included in the recall. The company has received one report of a child becoming trapped in the ice chest before being rescued by a parent.

May ’19 Recall UpdateTyson Foods Expands Chicken Strip Recall

Its earlier recall has been expanded from 69,093 pounds to approximately 11,829,517 million pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken strips. The products be contaminated with pieces of metal. A complete list of recalled use by dates can be found here. Consumers should discard any products that fall under the recalled category.

Honda CR-V Recalled

Honda has recalled 137,000 new CR-V sport utility vehicles due to sudden air bag deployments. Metal burrs from on the interior of the steering wheel may result in damage that could lead to a short circuit and overheating of components.

Jayco Recalls Model Year 2019 Jay Flight TF Travel TrailersMay ’19 Recall Update

The supports of the fresh water tank may be too thin, resulting in broken brackets and tank detachment. Jayco has notified owners, dealers will install a secondary rod to provide support.

May ’19 Recall UpdateStarbucks Recalls Bodum Recycled Coffee Presses

The plunger nob can break and expose the metal rod, posing laceration hazard. The presses were sold at Starbucks stores nationwide and online at Starbucks.com. Consumers should immediately stop use and contact Starbucks in regards to return and refund.

Aurora Beef Recalled Due to E. Coli Concerns

More than 62,000 pounds of beef – including steak, ribs, brisket and about 40 other products have been recalled due to E. Coli  concerns. The Recalled products have “EST. 788” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Hush Recalls Anesthetic Gels, Sprays and Foam Soaps May ’19 Recall Update

About 275,000 Hush products have been recalled because the packaging is not child resistant as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. The products contain lidocaine, posing a risk of poisoning  to young children if ingested.

Consumers should immediately place the recalled products out of reach of children and contact Hush for a full refund.
