May ’19 Charity Event Spotlight

There are wonderful charities throughout Kentucky working to help people from all walks of life. Whether through acts of service, participation or simply a financial contribution these charities need YOUR help! Sometimes it can seem overwhelming to decide which charity to donate to, so we will be compiling a list every month of fun upcoming charity events to help guide you in the right direction.

Lemonade for WHAS Crusade for Children

Wednesday, May 29 @ Nazareth 10AM
Bardstown Primary School students are setting up a lemonade stand to raise money for the WHAS Crusade for Children, which helps agencies, schools and hospitals make life better for children with special needs. Students will be accepting donations for lemonade from 10AM – 12:30PM.

Waterfront Wine & Woof!

Wednesday, May 29 @ Waterfront Wine & Spirits 6PM
Cuddle with KHS puppies and enjoy a $15 wine tasting benefiting KHS, complete with five wine tastings plus a specialty “Maker’s Bark” cocktail featuring a limited-edition Maker’s Mark Oak Stave Selection. And 10% of sales this night benefit KHS.

Nazareth 5K Run/Walk

Saturday, June 1 @ Bardstown Primary School 8AM
Join the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth for this first-ever 5K on the Motherhouse grounds of Nazareth, Kentucky. This run/walk event will be to raise funds for Sisters of Charity of Nazareth worldwide missions. Click here to register.

Dinner Train with Kiwanis Club

Saturday, June 1 @ My Old Kentucky Home Dinner Train 5PM
The Kiwanis Club of Louisville invites you to enjoy an unforgettable evening and help support Wayside Christian Mission and Heuser Hearing and Language Academy. 20% of ticket sales will be donated to these two charities. Tickets include a four-course meal, 2.5-hour train ride, a bar drink, and souvenir glass. Visit their event page for more info.

Commonwealth Bash

Bourbon & Bowties

Thursday, June 6 @ The Bridgeman Residence
Enjoy music, hors d’oeuvres from Louisville’s top chefs and an auction to raise funds for Norton Children’s Hospital through the Children’s Hospital Foundation. Visit their event page for details.

Zoofari! One Wild Night

Saturday, June 8 @ Louisville Zoo 6PM
As the largest annual fundraising event benefiting the Zoo, guests can expect the opportunity to be up close and personal with the Zoo’s animals while also enjoying hors d’oeuvres, a gourmet sit-down dinner, themed cocktails, a silent auction, the opportunity to adopt an animal during the live auction, and music. Gifts made in support of this event directly benefit the Zoo’s superior work to “better the bond between people and the planet” through award-winning exhibits, science and conservation education programs, and animal encounters. Blessings in a Backpack 0.5K

The Blessings in a Backpack 0.5k — that’s not a typo, “race” is in fact 0.5k (only .3 miles) and affectionately known as the “Running Event for the Rest of Us” — is created for folks who are NOT ready to go the extra mile. In fact, they aren’t even willing to go a mile at all, and actually barely even a quarter mile… but they are willing to have fun and poke fun at themselves, while raising money for a great cause — Blessings in a Backpack!
